I have been forging Scimitars for thirty five years and have made many different designs. This Dragon Scimitar long sword has a 29 ½” blade, hand ground from 80CrV2 hardened and tempered to 54-56RC. The elegantly sculpted guard and pommel are lost wax cast in 316 stainless steel.
The Chaos Dragon design of the sword pommel was once used on a limited edition shortsword that we produced in the 90’s – the original dragon was made by Ben Southwell and he resculpted it to be a little beefier for the sword pommel. This is only the second time we have used this pommel on a long sword. Ben also carved the tiny dragon head terminals, no 3D scanning or printing was used on this it was miniaturised by hand. Ben is the genius who helped me bring Talos to life in our Ray Harryhausen limited edition sculpture Talos Awakes.
